As much as we all try to protest against ridiculous beauty standards and the need to wear makeup in the first place…we’re fickle creatures who love a new gadget, lipstick or sparkly eyeshadow.
Sadly, though, caking on the products and falling for the latest over-hyped contraption means we sometimes overlook the things that are actually good for us.
If we want perfect healthy glowing skin or locks to revival Rapunzel there are some daily habits that we all must try to cling on to - regardless of whatever the latest beauty craze is!
1. Cleanse Your Face AM and PM
Those baby wipes that are lurking in the bathroom cabinet wont constitute as a deep cleanse, no matter how hard you scrub - chuck out the baby bum gracing cloths in favour of something more substantial. Alternatively, you could opt for a heavier wash like Emma Hardie’s Cleansing Balm. It’s a pricey oil, but it works a treat for removing make-up and giving your skin some much needed nourishment.
2. Drink Water Regularly
So this is quite an obvious one and one you’re probably sick to death of hearing, but nevertheless it’s still an important habit to remember.
Drinking water regularly not only helps keep your skin clear but topping up with the clear stuff also helps to keep your energy levels up AND it’s been proven to help aid weight loss, so step away from the soda and grab yourself a tall glass of H20 ladies and gents.
3. Use Facial Oils
The mere thought of applying a heavy oil to your skin is enough to send some people into acne defense mode, but we kid you not, contrary to popular belief, applying a facial oil wont cause acne and in some cases it could even aid in repairing it. Kate Moss is said to be a fan of using them and swears by Sanctuary Spa Wonder Oil Serum to aid in lymphatic drainage.
If it’s good enough for a supermodel it’s good enough for us!
4. Step Away From The Straighteners
We all want to look fabulous every day with poker straight hair or bouncy catwalk ready curls, but applying that much heat to your hair all the time will just result in a frazzled barnet that even serum wont tame. On the days where you can’t be without it use a heat protecting spray - TIGI S Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray will keep your mane looking shiny and will keep it protected from the heat.
5. Use An Anti-Oxidant
Antioxidants like vitamins C and E, help to protect the skin from the damage of free radicals which occur every time you encounter UV rays and pollution. So, if you want to try and slow down the signs of aging think about incorporating one into your daily routine.
A good potent anti-oxidant is Aesop’s cult ‘Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Serum, another plus for using this serum is it helps ramp up the powers of your suncream.
